26 mins ago, lunkers4life said: probly close to 100 times im just like not great at it but ive been going since i was 7 Jigging is 6 steps: Make sure you have enough weight - 4/5oz for peak, 2oz for slack Cast up current at 10 o'clock or so Close the bail and let the jig sink while keeping your rod up so you can feel it hit When the jig hits bottoms, lift your rod tip occasionally to keep it lightly hitting the bottom (some guys like to reel in towards shore but I don't) Whenever your jig no longer hits bottom for a few seconds, dump 3-5 seconds of line and feather it with your finger so you can feel if it is hit (this is very dependent on crowds) When the jig gets to 2:30 or so, reel it back in slowly for ~25 yards, then burn it back in to avoid the lip This is highly dependent on spot, depth, and bottom contour
